Yoga Alliance

Tree House Yoga Studio is the only Yoga Alliance registered Yoga School in the Iowa City area.

Yoga Alliance registers both individual yoga teachers and yoga teacher training programs (schools) who have complied with minimum educational standards established by the organization.

It is the mission of Yoga Alliance to lead the yoga community, set standards, foster integrity, provide resources, and uphold the teachings of yoga.

Yoga Alliance maintains a national Yoga Teachers’ Registry to recognize and promote teachers with training that meets specific standards. Only teachers registered with Yoga Alliance are authorized to use the initials “RYT” (Registered Yoga Teacher) after their name, or the initials “E-RYT” (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) if they have significant teaching experience in addition to training. 

Yoga Alliance also maintains a Registry of Yoga Schools to recognize yoga teacher training programs of at least 200 or 500 hours.  Once a school is registered, all graduates are automatically eligible to register as RYTs.

The Registries are advertised and promoted to the general public, organizations that employ yoga teachers and organizations that review yoga teachers’ credentials.

Tree House Yoga Studio is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School at the 200 hour level, and all of Tree House Yoga Studio’s teachers, as well as all graduates of the Teacher Certification program, are Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teachers.
